upgrade servicedesk user to project user

Gijs Epping January 9, 2015

Hello,

is it possible to upgrade SD users to project users without deleting them?  Some of our helpdesk users get involved in a project and the only solution we found now is renaming them first in the servicedesk and then add them again in jira. The problem with this is tah the users looses his issue overview in the servicedesk.

Can somebody tell me how this can be done?

Greetings Gijs

Hi there,

If you are using Service Desk new pricing model, it's unfortunate, but you won't be able to make your Service Desk customers into JIRA users.

There's a request opened for that very reason at Atlassian JIRA, here it is:

The only known way would be to create a new JIRA user for this customer.

Since the Customer user for Service Desk do not counts towards any of your application quotas you can create another user for him.

This way he won't loose track of any of his previous issues.

Another option is for you to create this new user, do a bulk edition of the related user information (where this customer is a reporter) and then delete the Service Desk customer for this user.

I hope this helps!
