start-up for jira 3.12.3

Steve Calvert August 13, 2015

I am trying to make JIRA 3.12.3 start upon reboot of the system it is installed on. A Fujitsu RX300S2 with CentOS 5. I have added /opt/jira/jira-3.12.3/bin/startup.sh to rc.local and boot.local in the \etc\rc.d directory.

Do I need to be the JIRA user? can I be root? I am not familiar with JIRA, yet, I've only just started to support it!

Do you have a page with tips, tricks and wrinkles that I could search?

Thanks in advance!

The scripts should be run as the JIRA user, yes, so that JIRA runs as that user.  Do not run it as root.

The first tip I'd suggest is "upgrade".  Version 3.12 is unsupported, archaic, and insecure.
