standard issu and sub tasks

Hi all,

I got a project let me explain the requiremnt: I got a standard issue type staffing under this the workfloe starts as draft ->finalized-> KT 1 , KT 2.... KT 9 then closed if a student first went through KT 1 and after completion of KT 1 he went for KT 2 while KT 2 in progress he went for KT 3 ... the actual concern is how the manager get to know his status???  whether i have to create sub tasks here  ? any suggestions??
