procmail cannot write

Could you please help with any suggestions?

I am trying to set up a mail handler for incoming email into jira and I would prefer the file system option.

I am using procmail to redirect the emails to application-data/jira/import/mail/ but procmail cannot get a lock on that folder to write the emails; the permissions are correct and procmail can write to any other home folder.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated as I have been looking for a solution for weeks.

The setup is simple in /home/jira/.procmailrc

VERBOSE=on

LOGFILE=/home/jira/maillog

:0:/home/jira/.lockmail

/app/atlassian/application-data/jira/import/mail

but, these are the messages I get:

procmail: Opening "/app/atlassian/application-data/jira/import/mail"

procmail: Error while writing to "/app/atlassian/application-data/jira/import/mail"
