permission depending on issuetype

markus_neuwald_canon_at April 8, 2024

Hi!

In a project i have several  issuetypes.

e.g. "PreSales" and "Implementation"

Presales issuetypes are used by Consultants and Architects.

Implementation issuetypes are used by Architects and technicians.

It happens that Consultants comments instead of "Presales" into "Implementation".

So I want to change the permissions for consultants so that they only have read permissions for the "Implementation" issue types, but can still edit the "Presales" issue types.

Is it possible to configure permissions by issuetype?

kind regards,

Markus

Hi Markus,

You are not able to do that out of the box with Jira. You can do Issue Level Security, but that applies to only to whether users can see the issue or not. There isn't really a mechanism where one user can see some issues only and update others. The ability to Create or Update are done at the project level.

There is an add-on called ScriptRunner Behaviours that might be able to do that for you.

Jira doesn't have issue type permissions. You may be able to do it with scripting or with a plug-in.
