no option to link service desk and jira project issues from edit

i am looking for a way to easily link the issue from another server.


we have service desk (sd) and JIRA software (project issues) on 2 different servers.


when trying to link a sd issue to a project issue from the edit screen, select link, it takes you the "issues selector" which only gives options for recent search or filter.  there is no option to select a server.

from the summary screen, if there is already a linked issue, there is a visible section for linked issues, if you select the + it takes you the "link" screen which gives an option to select the server

This widget could not be displayed.

Link can be found under "More" from the summary screen
