jira ondemand CLI - getting 404 when calling jira command line

I am trying to execute a basic command via CLI on windows.

in my jira.bat I have:

java -Dhttp.proxyHost=myproxy -Dhttp.proxyPort=8080 -jar "%dirPath%"/lib/jira-cli-4.4.0.jar %*

on my command line, i execute the following

jira --server https://myCo.atlassian.net --user my@username --password p4ssw0rd -v --action getVersion --project PRJ

this gives me:

Server address: https://myCo.atlassian.net/rpc/soap/jirasoapservice-v2
Login failed for https://myCo.atlassian.net, retry once to avoid occasional timeouts.
Unable to log in to server: https://myCo.atlassian.net/rpc/soap/jirasoapservice-v2 with user: my@username.
 Cause: (404)Not Found
AxisFault
 faultCode: {http://xml.apache.org/axis/}HTTP
 faultSubcode:
 faultString: (404)Not Found
 faultActor:
 faultNode:
 faultDetail:
        {}:return code: 404

i confirmed my credentials are ok.

is it a wrong server url? can't find this anywhere.
