Hi All

We are facing a problem regarding Jira Issue security.

Is there a way that the issue security level be automatically selected based on the report's group membership?

The reason we want this is because we do not want reporter to select the security level as that leaves a security risk that if the security level is left None then the issue becomes visible to all. Moreover, we cannot even amend the velocity templates to remove None option from security level as the change would be instance wide.

I believe that this can be achieved by creating a custom workflow post function.
Another solution would be to mandatorize the security level. Set the initial security level to certain people and maybe watchers or a custom user picker. As you want to add more users, add them.

There are couple of methods discussed here: http://blogs.onresolve.com/2008/08/setting-issue-security-level-by-issue-type/

The code will need to be brought up to date.

Hello,

The only way to achieve this would be to use some Javascript in order to evaluate something on the screen and then modifying the field.
