An email generated by jira includes, issue key, summary etc but also the issue type logo as an image. when a user reples to this email and that email is imported by jira to create a comment that ittue type logo follows as an attachment.
Has anyone found a workaround for this?

There was a bug reported for this issue that was fixed in Service Desk 2.5. It appears there is an issue with Outlook that causes this as well. According to other users in the comments, Outlook "will recreate the inlined image, adding its own content id and removing all the png metadata (sometimes converting to jpg). When this happens, the incoming mail handler is unable to know that it is a template image."
If you're using Outlook I would try another mail client at this point to see if the issue re-occures with other mail clients.

We are not using Service Desk and a different mail client isnt possible since outlook exchange is the decided mailclient in the company.
Im trying to figure out the velocity templates to have the icon removed in the first place.
