import existing user and issues from Excel CSV file

Deleted user October 24, 2012

JIRA creates in every case new user, when i try to import existing user and issues from an Excel CSV file. There is a column "assignee" with in JIRA existing user id s, but the import tool ignores this id s and creates new user.

ok, i found the problem. the first import was done with the users full name and jira created these strange new id s. ok, this was a user error. as we found out, that we have to use the jira internal user id s to import stuff from the csv file, we didn t delete these old crap id s. this was the reason, that jira didn t import the correct id format later on.

maybe there' something wrong with the Setup Field Mappings ? Check, which csv-Columns are mapped to user-fields.

here the required information:

Jira Version 5.0.6

Jira Build-Nummer 733 -

Standardsprache Deutsch (Deutschland) - Standardeinstellungen

Java-Version 1.6.0_26

Database driver MySQL-AB JDBC Driver mysql-connector-java-5.1.10

*********************************************************

The Jira importer creates a new user account based on the Jira id awill, which was provided in the csv file:

CSV utf8 coded:

issue key,Assignee,typ, ....
TR-33,awill,bug,...

*********************************************************

and in the attached screen , you can see, that it was named: <strong>awillbrandt@example.com.

Example.com comes from the import wizard, but where he gets the full lastname "Brandt"? This is really confusing.

Which version of JIRA are you using? It cannot create two users with the same username. Can you paste a screenshot of the users list as an example?
