I have a user that attempted to enter a call back phone number into the Details portion of an issue being created and I watched live as the number disappeared. He tried several ways of doing it, 123-456-7890 and it disappears, (123)456-7890 and it disappears and any other variant all disappear. The only one that works is 1234567890, this is very odd, I cannot find a filter setting that would do this either. Has anyone experienced this?

I hope you're doing well. Could you please share more details about the Data type of the "call back phone number" field?
If it'll be a numeric type, it'll throw an error when you want to save it.
What Jira version are you using?

Also, you can make that behavior if your using a plugin to automate workflows, like Power Scripts on which you can use Live Fields feature to make exactly what you see to happen, so the use enters only numbers or whatever you desire to behave.
