how to limit link type according to issue type ?

Hi all,

I would like to limit linking capabilities according to the issue type :
If I'm viewing an issue type A, i want to be able to link with another (existing !) issue with the link type A only.
And if I'm viewing an issue type B, i want to be able to link with another issue with the link type B only.

Is it possible in Jira ? Or is there a plugin to do so ?

PS : I know Exocet plugin can add links to create new issues from an issue, according to its type and / or status, but I want this specification for link with existing issues, and not only new issues.

Right now, I think you could only completely disable issue linking for this project and then create links through the workflow:

• Enable/disable the "Link Issues" permission through workflow properties cf. https://answers.atlassian.com/questions/33028/can-we-disable-linking-issues-to-an-issue-when-it-is-closed)
• Add a transition for linking and have the "Linked issues" field in the transition screen, afterwards use a validator to check that only the allowed link types have been used (using the Workflow toolbox plugin or the Script runner plugin--the script should be quite simple)
• Alternatively, it should be possible using the same plugins to have one transition for each link type you want to allow and add it in the post-function (however, you need a way to tell the post-function which issue to link to, I don't know how the plugins can work around this)
