how can i change the type of a field i created- from checkbox to dropdown list?

This question is in reference to Atlassian Documentation: Configuring a custom field

i created a field called subject, and at first i thought it should be a checkbox type, but that was a mistake, and i can't change it. it's driving me insane as i went to all the options in settings and can't find it.

How can i change the type of the field i created?? please help
