fields not available for certain issue types

This question is in reference to Atlassian Documentation: Defining issue type field values

Why is it that certain fields do not appear on the derfault form for certain issue types. 

 

Specifically, Story Points shows up for Story issue types, but not any others. 

 

How do I change this? I want it to show up for other types of issues.

Check what field configurations are related to the issue type, the field is probably missing from the configuration.

Story points are really only applicable to Stories. The field definition may show them only related to that issue type.
