connect jira to sql azure database

Mark Williams June 24, 2015

Hello,

I have a virtual server setup in Azure and I am trying to install JIRA on it. During the setup process it asks me to connect to a database, which in my case is a SQL database in Azure on a different virtual server. The error I get is:

Error connecting to database

I/O Error: DB Server closed connection.

Database Type: Microsoft SQL Server

Hostname: SERVERNAME.database.windows.net

Port 1433

Database: JIRA2015

Username: USERNAME@SERVERNAME

Password: MYPASSWORD

Schema: DBO

Can anyone tell me what I am doing wrong?

Thank You,

Mark

Hello Mark,

We have this ticket tracked over here regarding JIRA Support for SQL Azure:
* https://jira.atlassian.com/browse/JRA-35444

Since Azure SQL could be relatively similar to SQL Server, the following KB article for SQL Server might be helpful for the problem you facing at the moment:
