is it possible to add a completion date like the due date in a field in jira?

I typically accomplish this with the following steps:

1. Create a custom field "Completed Date Time" of type Date Time Picker - see docs
2. Customize your workflow transition to your "done" status by adding a post function that updates your new, custom field's value to %%CURRENT_DATETIME%% - see docs

Yes, it is possible, as previously answered. The "Date Picker" would be the same as the "Due Date", but in our case probably the "Date Time Picker" could be more helpful.

What do you think about the use of a 3rd-party-plugin, if this matter is of high importance for your business? Otherwise it could become a problem to update "Due Date", "Time Estimation" and "Completion Date" in parallel.

If you need simple date time picker - it is possible to add custom field with that type in default installation of jira. If you need some automatization of other field change - please give more details on the field behaviour.
