[agile] How do you get Original and Remaining Estimate into the Issue Detail View for easy editing?

Christian Balzer July 6, 2014

How do we get the Original and Remaining Estimate fields show up in the Issue Detail View on our agile board for easy editing? Adding "Initial Estimate" to the General Fields doesn't seem to do anything, and the Original Estimate and Remaining Estimate fields don't seem to be available...

Hello,

As I said in previous similar question https://answers.atlassian.com/questions/203202 :

It seems to be unfortunately still impossible in kanban, you can vote this pending ticket https://jira.atlassian.com/browse/GHS-6175 asking for those fields in kanban among other things.

Hi Christian,

Have you tried to enable time tracking on your board (visit the board >> click on the board button >> Configure >> Estimation). That should bring the original and remaining estimation on the issue view detail. smile

Please let us know if this helps you.

Cheers!

Configure >> Estimation is for a scrum board only.

This should be expected, as Scrum is based on delivering work to particular time-based milestones (i.e. scrums) and Kanban is not.

It would make little sense for a Kanban board to display time tracking information, as the purpose of a Kanban board is to show the flow of work (e.g. highlighting bottlenecks).
