Zephyr Community "Defect Tracking" - JIRA connection errors!

G January 23, 2013

Hi,

We are testing Zephyr Community for Test Management for JIRA and have run into an issue:
- we have setup Zephyr Community for test purposes.
- we use Atlassian JIRA OnDemand for our software development
- In the zephyr Administration tool, we are trying to setup the Defect Tracking with the JIRA Zephyr connection plugin and are having problems!!

Using the Zephyr Kwonledge Base instruction we are connecting with the correct URL and JIRA Admin account, yet get error messages:

Using port 81 – Zephyr instruction - ERROR message
defectTrackingSystemService - (631152101)
There seems to be an error in the operation performed. Please contact Zephyr Support if this persists.
DETAILS
The defect tracking system is not reachable. Please check the URL and try again.
java.net.SocketException: network is unreachable: connect

-> we do not use a proxy between Zephyr and JIRA and our Firewall show no errors

We checked the open ports on our Atlassian OnDemand instance and ports 80 & 443 are open; NOT port 81.

..but still a different error message is returned by the Zephyr Administration tool:

Using port 80 – our atlassian open port
defectTrackingSystemService - (631152101)
There seems to be an error in operation performed. Please contact Zephyr Support if this persists
DETAILS
The defect tracking system is not reachable. Please check the URL and try again.
(301)Moved Permanently

-> 301 Moved Permanently appears to be an Apache Server error message!

Further, if one enters our connection URL in a browser
we get an answer from our JIRA SOAP Service (see below).
NOTE: On port 80, not 81 as indicate in Zephyr connect instruction.

Answer message:
jirasoapservice-v2
Hi there, this is an AXIS service!
Perhaps there will be a form for invoking the service here...

So the service is there on port 80!!!

I found the same case on the Zephyr FORUM Community -> Here a proxy issue is mentioned but no answer is given!!

Where is the problem on the Zephur service request side or the JIRA OnDemand server side?? Does Atlassian have ports defined for the Zephyr QA Test tool? If so which ports?

Any help would be greatly appreciated!!

we would like to get back to testing the Zephyr system!!

Gerry
