Why is our instance of JIRA autowatch plugin not working?

We downloaded the Autowatch plugin to automatically add watchers based on the value of one of the custom fields filled out during ticket creation, but it seems that it is not working. Atlassian was not able to find anything wrong with the rules we created, has anyone else experienced this?

Unfortunately this plugin seems to be no longer supported.
