Why don't all of my stories show up in the board view of my epics?

Only a few stories show up under any given Epic. It makes no sense to me. I've tried to see if I had some weird filter on, but there is nothing that I can see. It looks like it's choosing random stories in each Epic.

On a different but related topic, the Epic drop down only shows some of my Epics.

@Nicolas Grossi thank you for that link, though none of Trudy's suggestions help me. I am using the agile sprint system, I have all tickets assigned to both a person and an Epic.

@Tim Williams Welcome! Are you sure that if you choose an epic you are not able to see all the USs related to it ?

Hi Nicolas, yes, though what I'm not sure about is a different user error.

@Nicolas Grossi yes that's correct.  I am trying to see all stories in the board view. Only a few show up.
