Why does gmail/jira turn carriage returns into something else?

Hi there, having a little issue with HTML email rendering in gmail, not sure what the cause is:

1. An issue is created in jira, and i recieve a HTML notification email about it.
2. From my gmail account, I reply.
3. The reply appears in Jira OK.
4. I am configured to be notified of my own updates.
5. A notification email is sent, i see it, but it is rendered badly with carriage returns in the wrong place etc.

Julius,

This is relative to the size of your screen and also your web-browser. If you increase the width of the screen, JIRA will modify the size of the issue view. The same if you reduce it.

Hi Pedra, thanks for your reply. This is the same email rendered on a 24" LCD.
