While closing change request, remaining effort set to "0" or not?

Hello,

As per JIRA updates, If you closing story/Sub-story, then remaining effort will automatically drop down to "0"

Does the same thing happens for change request?

For reference, We closed one ticket, which is a change request, but remaining effort is not set to "0"

Do we have to manually moved it to "0" ?

Regards,

Urmimala (Nagra)

Hi,

It seems like the update just happens automagically, but you have control over this yourself. The update is being triggered by a post function on the transition that is applied to close your story/sub-story.

If you want the same thing to take place for Change Requests, first have a look at the workflow that is currently assigned to Change Requests. That's the workflow you need to check and potentially optimize.

  • To edit the workflow, type g+g and type 'workflows' in the dialog that pops up.
  • Find the workflow and select edit.
  • Select the transition that closes the issues and navigate to post functions
  • If it isn't there yet, add a post function of type Update issue field. Configure it to update the value of the Remaining Estimate field to 0.
  • Don't forget to publish the workflow once you're done

And like this the remaining estimate on change requests will be updated to 0 when you close them.

Just on a side note: before you modify your workflow, have a look whether it is being used for other issue types / projects as well. Your change will affect all issues that are using the workflow throughout JIRA. Which is probably ok, but a prior assessment of the impact of your change is never a bad idea.
