When giving "Anyone" permission to create an issue, default validation no longer works.

When giving the "Anyone" group permission to create an issue for anonymous submission the default form validation for Summary no longer works. If user is logged in the validation works correctly.

The form does not submit but the message "You must specify a summary of the issue." is not displayed.

This is a bug within JIRA. The issue can be tracked at https://jira.atlassian.com/browse/JRA-33397

seems to be a bug, do you mind to let me know which version of JIRA are you using?

Larry Peery May 28, 2013

5.1.8. I was following the instructions found here for anonymous ticket creation.

I suppose you can double check the field configuraiton for the screen setting of the issue creation whether it made the summary field as a require field (usually if it is required, there is a small red star next to the label of the field).

Yes, the field is required and the * does appear. What does not appear is the message "You must specify a summary of the issue." when clicking "Create".

This is only true when not logged in.
