How big of a problem this is? What is the original cause: wrong DB mappings somewhere in JIRA config or what? What is best way to make this error go away?

Hi,

Hopefully you've been able to sort this by now, however, if not I want to see if I can help provide some guidance.  The error you're seeing is the Oracle ORA-00942 error as well as an error that upgrade tasks failed.

We have a knowledge base article titled How to Fix Oracle Error ORA-00942: table or view does not exist that may be of use to you:

As from the error command:

The table or view entered does not exist, a synonym that is not allowed here was used, or a view was referenced where a table is required. Existing user tables and views can be listed by querying the data dictionary. Certain privileges may be required to access the table. If an application returned this message, the table the application tried to access does not exist in the database, or the application does not have access to it.

This is most commonly caused by an improperly configured database connection.  One thing to keep in mind is that the permissions on an Oracle database need to be setup exactly as the permissions state in the Connecting JIRA to Oracle knowledge base article.

To resolve the issue:

• Confirm that the database connection has been correctly configured, as in our Connecting JIRA to Oracle documentation, ensuring both the appropriate permissions and required unlimited quota is granted to the JIRA application database user.
• This DBA Oracle article has further information on this error. If you're experiencing further problems, please ensure to raise this with your Oracle DBA.

Cheers,

Branden

Hi, thanks for the response. Are you sure you are not mixing ORA-00942 with ORA-00904? Because what I see in the logs does not look like this error originated from issue with permissions.
