What is the 'Directory' in the JIRA user profile?

Directory:	Remote Crowd Directory

What's that for?

JIRA OnDemand utilises Crowd internally to store users. This is so that if you add other applications (Confluence, Bamboo, etc.) they can all use the same user database.

Okay. So, does the 'Directory' stands for 'One of the directories of the Crowd system'?

That's right, although Crowd's configuration in OnDemand only really has one directory anyway. Therefore the directory ideally shouldn't be displayed, as it's giving you no useful/extra information.

I suppose the reason why it is displayed is because we try to keep the differences between the OnDemand version and download version of our products as small as possible (and this would be useful information to someone using self-hosted JIRA + Crowd with multiple directories in use).
