What is expected JIRA / Agile OnDemand pageload times?

Ulrik Gammelby July 10, 2014

Hello,

We are experiencing truly horrible OnDemand performance, it has always been sort of sluggish but recently it seems to have turned really bad. Before doing the extensive reporting suggested on https://confluence.atlassian.com/display/ONDEMANDKB/JIRA+or+Confluence+OnDemand+Instance+is+Running+Slowly, we would like to get an idea about what to expect.

Our team is primarily located in Denmark, we use modern hardware and latest browsers. We have a 1 Gbit/s Internet connection and no performance problems in general. We see page load times typically about 10 seconds but very often between 15 and 30 seconds! It is horrible to work with. Simple kanban boards and dashboards.

Thanks in advance for hints about what to expect!

Ulrik

Over 10 seconds may indicate problems. Given in your case things are gettign worse, then it might be a data issue. For example, we've seen cases where comments in JIRA issues can slow things down if pasting in SQL result sets or code, etc. In those cases we recommend putting the comments into attachments. Support can run a query to determine the size of your JIRA issues. Open a support case and if possible, include a HAR file. Even better if you could generate a HAR file, wait about 20 minutes and generate another HAR file so can see if you are caching (look for 304 Not Modified). If caching is happening correctly, the second HAR should indicate better overall load times. Take a look at our instructions here to proceed:
