What happened to the concept of backlog vs Sprint board.

So I have a backlog on my sidebar and I have a Sprint board with columns with different status's and some status's i don't want to appear on the Sprint board because they are not ready for development yet (Draft).  There used to be a backlog area in the setting screen for the board where tickets would only show up in the backlog. But now that does not seem to exist anymore. So if a ticket status is not included in a Sprint board area column then the ticket does not show up in the backlog either.  It's essentially gone.  Not sure what's going on here but, this is a very standard process of creating tickets and getting them ready for development that they don't show up in the active sprint board.

Whatever, changes have been made I would appreciate understanding how i can have tickets in my backlog that don't need to be included in active sprint columns.
