Way to install Jira Service Management from server how to clear old version of it.

Hi.

I have Jira Software (DC) and JSM.

From a past we always using install method for new JSM version like this:

  • download JSM obr
  • unpack
  • cp  *.jar dependencies/*.jar /atlassian/jira/data/plugins/installed-plugins
  • fix permissions

And this is what is working ok.
My only concerning is that we are keeping so much old binaries there - by using this method. Some of binaries are related to specific version. Some of are dependencies. We have so much trash there.

Only an example of few files with different versions on install directory.

jira-servicedesk-application-4.20.11.jar jira-servicedesk-application-5.4.11.jar jira-servicedesk-application-5.4.14.jar jira-servicedesk-application-5.4.17.jar jira-servicedesk-application-5.4.19.jar jira-servicedesk-application-5.4.23.jar jira-servicedesk-public-rest-api-plugin-4.20.11-REL-0003.jar jira-servicedesk-public-rest-api-plugin-5.4.11-REL-0001.jar jira-servicedesk-public-rest-api-plugin-5.4.14-REL-0001.jar jira-servicedesk-public-rest-api-plugin-5.4.17-QR-0010.jar jira-servicedesk-public-rest-api-plugin-5.4.19-REL-0001.jar jira-servicedesk-public-rest-api-plugin-5.4.23-REL-0001.jar

And here are two questions:

  • how to safely clear those old version without breaking current version or break other plugins or common components,
  • Is there any other better way to install JSM from OBR instead of unpacking and those stuff I'm doing right now? mean from server side, not from GUI.
