Warning on failed links

Hi all,

Bit of an out-there kinda question.

I am considering how Jira might be implemented in my organisation.  I am adding a link to a task. The link (usually functional) may fail due to various understood and accepted reasons.

Is there a means to:

  • Prevent the display of links that will fail, or
  • Send the link to a notice advising why the link has failed.

Currently the link simply goes to the browsers broken link page with no additional detail, but I'm wondering if there is a means to create my own message from the Jira platform.

Thanks

Hi @Barry Neilson natively, in Jira this cannot be carried out. However, as a workaround, you can install JWME application and within your workflow and the Create transition you can add a new post function named "Display message to the user". You can set both the title and the body of the message. Basically, each time an issue has been created either having a link or not, it will display the message in the upper right corner to the users that the link might not work.
