Arpita Argulwar May 5, 2014

Hello Team,

If we change the global setting for the date format from dd/mm/yy to dd/mm/yyyy what will be the impact for existing field's values, existing report with date field and any other.

Jira Version is 3.13

Thanks,

The dates will be displayed in the new format once you change the configuration. All dates are stored as date-time in the database and hence the data won't be corrrupted. They just will be rendered differently.

Depends on what you mean by "reports". If you mean the filters, you may have a problem if people have specified real dates as the filters may not interpret the old strings correctly any more.

But date settings (where you are asked for a date or date range) will be fine because they store and use dates in the background and all you've done is change the display and entry methods. Things like Jira reports, Gadgets, and so-on, should still work.
