Want to setup an auto-reply when users send an email to JIRA

Dan Vanaskie December 18, 2012

Does anyone have a way of sending an auto-reply to the user that is sending an email to JIRA and is not a user? We have given everyone the ability to send an email that will create an issue, but for users that are not created in JIRA, we have to manually email a reply to them with the issue information.

Thanks,

Dan

Hi Dan

From the box, since JIRA can only use its local database to read/catch the user email addresses, the application will requires to use a third party plugin like JEMH (https://studio.plugins.atlassian.com/wiki/display/JEMH/JEMH+Home) in order to extend the default mail handler feature. However, this is not possible in an AOD instance regarding restricted function policy (https://confluence.atlassian.com/display/AOD/Restricted+Functions+in+Atlassian+OnDemand).

Also, I've found the following improvement request which might be related to it:

https://jira.atlassian.com/browse/AOD-5649

Cheers,

Paulo Renato
