Verify jira/confluence restore

Hi,

As part of our disaster recovery plans we're taking backups of Jira and Confluence. We use MySQL and use mysqldump to take the database backup and include the home folder for Jira/Confluence in our backup snapshot.
The other side of the plan is that we'd like to schedule a restore of the most recent backup and verify it's a 'good' restore. We're doing this on a test server.

Now, if the database or the file restore (of the home folder) fails then there's an obvious problem. But if these processes run correctly how certain can we be that everything is healthy?
What can we do to verify the restored installations? I think there's an integrity checker plugin, is that a good idea? Should we use the APIs and run some test requests?

FYI We're running Jira and Confluence on a Linux server using MySql.

Thanks for the response. We're looking at scheduled, automated restores so I don't think the database integrity checker, nor the confluence plugins, would fit into this scenario.

Hi Gareth.

First thing to look at are your logs files, checking for error messages related to the database when JIRA and Confluence are starting.

Besides that, JIRA has a bundled Database Integrity Checker and Confluence has a few plugins which do the same.
