User login details are "not recorded" unless member of jira-users

Howard Vaan June 10, 2014

We're using a local instance of JIRA 6.2.3 running on Windows 2008 R2. We have LDAP integration with a Windows domain.

As soon as we added LDAP integration, we hit an error with adding users to groups: "The user's directory is read only". This was fixed by removing the default user group (jira-users) for the LDAP directory.

We add users to a new internal group, JIRA-MyCompany-Users.

We have now noticed that only users that are a member of jira-users are having last login details recorded. Members of JIRA-MyCompany-Users only, show 'not recorded'.

What is the reason for logins not being recorded and how could this be configured to fix this?

Do you have set up an external SingleSignOn? We have one and that because no login data is recorded and no standard user-group is added to users, if they access Jira using SSO. But everything works fine, if users log in into Jira manually.

Hi Howard,

The login details should be displayed for LDAP Directories / AD as well, as long as those users have logged into JIRA at least once.

Could you please provide more details about the problem?

  • Does the group JIRA-MyCompany-Users have either the JIRA Administrators, JIRA System Administrators or JIRA Users global permission in JIRA?
  • Did you double check whether the users from that group had successfully logged into JIRA at least once?
  • Are there any errors in the logs?

It might be a good idea to report a support ticket on http://support.atlassian.com/to tackle this problem as well.

Cheers,

Danilo
