Use 4.x project as a template on new 6.x server?

My company has Jira 4.x running on an old server, and a Jira 6.x running on a new server, is there a way to import projects from the 4.x server to the new 6.x server to use as a template?

There is a project import feature that you can use but you will have to upgrade the 4.x JIRA to the 6.x version.
