We are looking for a solution to help our bug triaging and prioritisation process with the help of urgency points. In order to give a more granular view on which bugs within our "critical" lists we believe that adding an additional point rating to a bug gives us what we need.
We have so far created a few custom fields to gather / store the point ratings from the respective individuals on the Bug's Project management, however would ideally have a field that can also be made visible in the backlog view (similar to Story Points), which will allow filtering in descending order so that the top critical bugs are always on the top of said backlog view. Is there any OOTB way of doing this in JIRA that we have not yet considered? Or would this require a plugin? If so which one and how could we go about this?

If I understood correctly, you would like to show the urgency of a ticket on the tickets themselves.
Should this be the case then do the following:
Now if you go back to you board there should be urgency shown on the cards if they were set.
