Hi All,
I need to upgrade my Jira version as I am on 8.22. Looking for the best way to upgrade to meet my requirements.
When I upgrade the software version, I would also like to get on an up to date server OS, as well as move my cluster to another IP network.
I think I have a solution to solve the server OS upgrade by joining two new OS servers to the current 8.22 cluster, removing the old OS nodes from the load balancer, then doing the Jira software upgrade on the new cluster nodes.
What this does not solve is my IP address change need.
Here is where I have questions...
Can a Jira cluster have app servers on a separate IP from the data base server, or do I need to have the DB server on the same IP network?
What is the recommended approach to do what I desire to do? Upgrade software version first, then make the IP address change a separate project/effort?
Orrrrrrrr... does it make the most sense to build a whole new and separate environment (two app nodes, shared directory, and DB server), duplicate the configs from current cluster, then change load balancer to point clients to the new environment.
Any insight from someone who as tackled this before would be great. I can't be the only one to think about this!
Erik
