Undoing User DIrectory Migration

Salvador Garcia May 27, 2014

Hello all,
Unfortunately, last night I made a mistake and migrated 14 users from the internal directory group to LDAP. Because of this, these users are no longer able to access the resources they need in Jira/ can't login.

We are looking into a way to undo this process or to change specific users' user directories.

Any information is greatly appreciated on what we can do to rectify this issue.

Hi Salvador,

Does the problem persists by changing the order of the Directories on the *User Directories* panel?

If so, I believe that during the migration process, the directory id of these users were changed.

You might try changing it back to Internal. Basically:

Check for one of this users on cwd_user table and check its directory_id. Try chnaging it back to 1 (default for the Internal Directory).

Restart your Jira, and check if this user can login again.

Cheers

I'll definitely give this a shot. Does this method work 100% in terms of changing someone's user directory, or is this just something to try?

Only reason I ask this is considering we would have to restart Jira, it would cause a slight downtime.
