Unable to link from Jira issue to confluence space with application link enabled (or without)

I've read in documentation -> http://confluence.atlassian.com/display/ds/Integrating+JIRA+and+Confluence#IntegratingJIRAandConfluence-ApplinksPlugin

that I'm supposed to be able to use the wiki style link (ie: page name ) to link to a confluence page within a Jira issue when the project has been linked via an application link to a confluence space.

I have spent over an hour now trying to find online what I'm missing to enable this. It is not working for me.

Can someone please enlighten me?
