Unable to create application links

Hi 

 

When creating application links in Jira, after clicking the "Create" button, there is no response, and only a blank page is displayed. What should I do? What potential troubleshooting steps can I take?

Hey there execbbbr,

I would first check if the issue is client-sided. If I understood it correctly, you clicked on "Create link", and the pop-up modal was empty. In this case, you could;

  • Try checking this interaction in either a different browser, or in your current one without any extensions enabled (incognito mode in most browsers disable extensions on default settings).
  • Clear your cookies and cache. A very generic step I know, but it may help in some cases.
  • Open the developer console of your browser, and check for any errors/warnings when clicking on the button.
    • You are interested in any server response related errors/warnings, or generally anything that may imply that the interaction couldn't execute.

If all these fail, your next best bet would be to check the logs of your Jira instance. If necessary, you can also configure logging for application links.

From personal experience though, it is highly likely that you have a client sided issue, and/or a modification on your Jira instance that breaks this interaction. (Eg.: ScriptRunner webfragments, javascript code in the banner section, etc.)
