Unable to connect to Jira: when importing from trac

Support November 10, 2014

We are trying to import from Trac to JIra. We have a zip file containing the trac contents. When we try to import this to Jira, we get the following error: Cannot attach file trac_archive.zip: Unable to communicate with JIRA.

We have increased the maximum file upload size to be more than the zip file that we are uploading.

Cannot see any errors in catalina.out. Any help will be appreciated.

Hi,

How long does it take for you to upload trac zip-file? We have a known issue, that importer can loose track of imported file, if it's upload time takes more than JIRA web-sudo timeout: https://confluence.atlassian.com/display/JIRA/Configuring+Secure+Administrator+Sessions.

Let me know if that was the issue for you.

Our file wasnt very big. It was just 26 MBs. Once half of the file was uploaded, it used to try again (probably since the upload was failing). After trying and failing the second time, it gave an error. We came to know that it is because of the file size but did not know what changes should be made. As a result, we ended up reducing the zip size by getting rid of most attachments from jira tickets. In our case, those attachments were not very important. So, although not a very good work-around, we were successful by reducing the file size to 15MBs.

Forgot to mention, that the entire process of trying to upload twice and failing was taking less than a minute.
