Unable to Change the Order of Sub-tasks for Non-Admin Users

Jenny October 20, 2024

Hello,

The handle to change the order of sub-tasks under an issue is not visible. Specifically, while I, as an admin, can change the order of sub-tasks without any issue, other users cannot.

All users have the "Edit Issue" permission, and I've already reset the board filter sorting to the default project = SH ORDER BY Rank ASC, but the issue persists.

Could you please advise on how to allow other users to change the order of sub-tasks?

I tested changing the Schedule Issues permission,
but unfortunately,
the reorder handle remains invisible to everyone except the master admin.

Is there any other way to check this?

A non-admin mentioned that it worked during the previous sprint,
but it stopped working with the current active sprint.

Could this be related?

Hi @Jenny ,

i would have advised you to give the other people the schedule issues permission and additonally check that the filter for your board is shared with the people in your project and not private this could potentially cause the ranking to not work properly.

Best regards

Henning

@Henning Stoll  Thanks, Henning!

Despite your advice, the filter permissions are already set so that all users can view them.

I'm not sure what is best  action is.

hi @Jenny hmm sounds difficult. I would honestly start by trial and error this out. Youre saying that you as an admin can move these issues without a problem. Which leads me to believe it is a permissions problem. I would advise you to give temporary administrator rights to a single user and then see if he can move the issues aswell. If thats the case i would revisit the permission scheme and make sure the users rly have the edit and schedule permissions.

Also do your users get an eror message when trying to rank the issues manually ?

Best regards

Henning
