URL Issue

NSDC Support Admin June 16, 2017

Dear Team,

I have more then 10K customers who uses JIRA to raise Support Tickets. I have multiple projects and have distributed URL's according to thier use.

URL appears something like this:

https://nsdcsupport.atlassian.net/servicedesk/customer/portal/10

Now this link just have username and password option. What about users who want to signup directly via JIRA. There is no such option.

If I give only "https://nsdcsupport.atlassian.net/" URL to signup then existing users are told this:

*******************************

Atlassian Cloud - No Access

Did you use the wrong account?

Your email address abc@gmail.com doesn't have access to nsdcsupport.atlassian.net

We've all got more than one email address these days - are you using the right one?

If you're certain you should have access with abc@gmail.com, contact your administrator.

*******************************

Please advise can we have one link which can be used for exisiting user and new users to signup directly into the project.

Regards

Shreshtha

The two URLs represent two different aspects of JIRA, ones that expect different types of user, and the sign-up options need to be different.

The main login is for JIRA users, those who will be using projects, issues, boards, agent functions and so-on.  By default, self-sign-up for them is generally turned off, but you can do it - see https://confluence.atlassian.com/cloud/enable-self-sign-up-744721636.html

The customers use the portal login, and only get to use the portals.

If you do enable self-sign-up, you will need your admins to keep a careful watch on your licence count, especially if you were to accidentally have customers signing up to the wrong thing.   You really don't want customers using it, so it's definitely better to have two urls.
