Trouble editing filter shares in Jira Cloud on boards

beckynixon June 30, 2017

Hi there,

I cannot see how to edit filter share on individual boards in Jira. I have some old boards that  were created a couple of years ago by my predecessor who is no longer a  user but it wo't let me archive/hide the permisssions for these boards. When  I go into the board settings and  Edit filter query- this takes me to a long list of old issues on the board. When I try and change user permissions it only does this for all projects. Can someone tell me how to change the settings to hidden to everyone apart from me?

Hi Becky,

To make sure I get it, you want to change the settings of the filters used in your boards to make them private (you're the only one to see it)?

To do it your first have to change the ownership of the shared filter (see documentation https://confluence.atlassian.com/adminjiracloud/managing-shared-filters-818578900.html ).

Then, once you have the ownership of the filter you can choose in the upper menu "Issues - Manage filters" and click on the cog icon to edit your filter.

Let me know if it helps,

Thanks Nicolas - is there not an easier way to hide an entire board from Jira?  If I vchange the shared filters then how do I isolate just one board?

I'm affraid there is no other way (there is an open issue about this according to the discussion here https://community.atlassian.com/t5/JIRA-Software-questions/Is-there-a-way-to-archive-or-hide-boards/qaq-p/427882 ).

Do you have several board using the same shared filter? If you want to isolate just one board you can make a copy of the filter and assign it to that board, then edit the properties of the filter you copied.
