Transition workflow screen - Delay the new field values updated values until conditions are met

I have a few fields that I want updated in a transition workflow screen. I need the update to take place IF certain conditions are met after the transition workflow screen is gone off my screen and before the update takes effect. Is there a stage in between these two process that I can use?

I have ScriptRunner installed and my Jira version is 7.6.4

Determined an answer right after I post this question. Have a custom script run before default update functions are ran.
