Tomcat server says started, but Jira won't load in browser

I'm trying to install a standalone version of the latest version of Jira. I'm at the point where I'm starting Jira for the first time, but when I try to load the webpage (http://"server.name":8080) I just get a blank screen. The catalina.out file shows the server started and the only error is see is "SEVERE: Error listenerStart"

Could provide the content of atlassian-jira.log? That would help to narrow down the cause.
