Hi Suresh,

I can confirm that the problem is not in user count mismatch, but in legacy Unlimited plugin license vs Enterprise JIRA license. Legacy plugin licenses are for legacy JIRA licenses bought before Febrary 23, 2012. The proper plugin license in this case would be Enterprise 2000 Users license or Enterprise Unlimited Users license.

I will contact you via the helpdesk ticket to list available options.

Hi Suresh, as the Support Engineer that handled the issue that was submitted regarding this difficulty, I'd like to share with our readers here that the issue was that the JIRA license was Enterprise Commercial, while the GreenHopper license was Commercial (not Enterprise Commercial). By changing the license types so that the GreenHopper license was also Enterprise Commercial, we brought GreenHopper back into operating condition.

Hi Suresh,

It seems like your JEditor license type is not compatible with JIRA license Type.

The Atlassian host application (for example, JIRA, Confluence, etc.) license tier determines the license type you need for an add-on that is paid-via-Atlassian. For example, if you are installing an add-on into a JIRA with 25-user license, you must purchase a 25-user license for the add-on, even if fewer users will actually use it.

IMPORTANT: If you do not purchase a license that matches your Atlassian application license, your add-on will not work.

More information please refer to:

If you purchase the JEditor license from Atlassian Marketplace, you can contact our sales team via email: sales@atlassian.com

If you purchase the JEditor license from the plugin vendor, you need to contact the vendor directly.

The JIRA and JEDitor license purchased are both for Commercial License.

JIRA License for 2000 users: Commercial License

JEditor for JIRA - Unlimited License: Commercial License.

Hi Suresh,

Besides the commercial license, you also need to ensure the users type. As you mention:

JIRA License for 2000 users: Commercial License

JEditor for JIRA - Unlimited License: Commercial License.

Which you need to change JEditor license to 2000 users license. Unlimited license means unlimited users.

Hi Amanda,

Plugin should work when its license tier is higher then JIRA's license tier. There's no technical limitation. https://developer.atlassian.com/display/UPM/License+Validation+Rules

We are communicating this issue to the Atlassian sales team now.

That was the case earlier but not with the later version of UPM. We have seen this problem and the fix was to downgrade the number of users for the plugin.

OK ... so first Atlassian downgrades our license, then we enter the new license and our most important plugins stop working. Great job, fantastic customer satisfaction guaranteed. sad
