Tempo - Add teams to a project.

Mark Heywood December 15, 2013

Is there anyway to add a temp team to a project as a one-er?

You can add individuals and groups to a project. But really teams are a type of group (I am sure a lot of people set their groups up around teams) and so it would be useful to be able to add a tempo teams as you do a group.

Thought it might. Basically jira really forces you to use groups. So create teams for your groups and then we need to add those groups in your team section. Up side is that a manager should never have to add a new team member if your new person process included adding them to the team group.

Down side is you it is more difficult to see who is in a team and you can't delegate down to managers the setting up of the team. Unless you keep it as a two step process.

Cheers for the reply and I will look out for the new functionality!

Why do you say that JIRA forces you to use groups? Is there any functionality that does not support users instead of groups?

Hi Mark,

the idea sounds good, but it might be difficult to implement. Teams is a Tempo feature and Projects are part of JIRA.
We have created a Team custom field for JIRA issues that will be available in Tempo Timesheets 7.8. With this you can connect a Team to an issue.
In Tempo Planner it will be possible to link a Team to a Project, so you can plan on it in the Team timeline.
Connecting Teams directly requires changes in JIRA, to allow access of others than groups, roles and users to Project permissions.

Kind regards
