Sub-task should not inherit the component of the parent task

Markus Muench March 12, 2013

For now we are using JIRA more or less out of the box. Thus when creating new tasks the Default Issue Type Scheme is accomplished.

In our team the assignment of tasks and sub-tasks to certain components is crucial. As we have seen, by default, a sub-task inherits the Component of the parent task. Is there any setting to change this behaviour? Best if a new sub-task were related to no component. Thanks for your advice.

Hey Markus, is Greenhopper installed in this JIRA instance? I had created a bug previously due the installation of Greenhopper would cause sub-task to inherit the component from parent: https://jira.atlassian.com/browse/GHS-5772

I recommend to use a plugin called 'Clone Plus' by Bob Swift. This plugin give you the possibility to decide which attributes should be copied. Or you use the Jira Enhancer Plugin. There you can implement a postfunction where you can control the value of the component (set to null or sonething else).
