Sub-Task status roll up to parent with hierarchy

Morning all,

We are utilizing a hybrid KanBan / Scrum process ( I do not like using the word Agile when we really mean Scrum ).

In that process, we have Story Cards that have one or more Sub-Tasks, for specific teams to accomplish.

We would like the Story card to reflect the lowest ranking status of the Sub-Tasks underneath it.

for instance if the sub-tasks had statuses of:

     to-do

    In-Progress

    in_progress

   done

We would like the story card to have the status of to-do.

When the sub-task goes from to-do to in-progress, the story card should change to in-progress.

What we are tracking is the "worse case" status of the sub tasks.  If we go with the best case status, the story looks as if it is further ahead than it really is.

I know with the add-on STRUCTURES they have this capability, but we do not need the actual structure they produce.
