There is a sprint which is no more needed which I have deleted.

There is an active sprint by the time I delete the sprint

Issues in the backlog moved to active sprint and marked the issues are high rank

can anyone throw some light here?

Many Thanks,

Pavan

In Jira Cloud, when a sprint is deleted, Jira prompts  (take it with a pinch of salt, I recall it prompts) you to decide what to do with the issues in the sprint. If the deleted sprint contained issues, they can either move back to the backlog or be moved to another active sprint. If you did not explicitly move these issues to the backlog or another sprint, Jira might have automatically moved them to the currently active sprint. https://support.atlassian.com/jira-software-cloud/docs/delete-a-sprint/

If the issues from the deleted sprint were moved to the active sprint, they might have been assigned a high rank, potentially due to Jira prioritising them at the top of the active sprint but I could not find any documentation proving this
